WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY :
Today is World Food Safety Day, a day to raise awareness of the importance of safe food. Foodborne illnesses affect millions of people worldwide each year, and can cause a range of symptoms from mild stomach upset to serious illness and even death.
There are many things that can be done to prevent foodborne illness, and everyone has a role to play. Food producers, retailers, and restaurants can all take steps to ensure that the food they produce and sell is safe. Consumers can also play a role by following safe food handling practices at home.
Here are some simple tips for safe food handling:
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling food.
Keep raw meat, poultry, and seafood separate from other foods.
Cook food to the proper temperature.
Refrigerate leftovers promptly.
Do not eat food that has been left out at room temperature for more than two hours.
By following these simple tips, we can all help to keep our food safe and prevent foodborne illness.
World Food Safety Day is a reminder that food safety is everyone’s responsibility. Together, we can make a difference and help to create a safer food supply for everyone.
