World Disability Day

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated annually on December 3. The United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3 proclaimed the day in 1992. The day’s goals are to:

  • Promote understanding of disability issues
  • Mobilize support for the rights, dignity, and well-being of people with disabilities
  • Raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities
  • Explore ways to ensure equal rights for people with disabilities

The theme for 2023 is “United in action to rescue and achieve the sustainable development goals for, with and by persons with disabilities”.
